"The sky is a book. The ground is a book.
Our grandfathers could read both."
I'm Yousef, and I was born right here in Wadi Rum — the Valley of the Moon. My grandfathers navigated by the stars to survive. Now I share their wisdom with you.
"We come here to enjoy the stars. Our grandfathers used them. This was their GPS."
I'll take you deep into the desert, far from any village light, and teach you the art of celestial navigation — the same techniques that saved lives for centuries. I'll show you how to find north by the stars, read animal tracks in the sand, and tell you the stories my grandfather told me.
Step into the desert darkness with me and discover why we learned the sky before we learned to write.
I'll teach you to find north using the Big Dipper and Cassiopeia — the same way my people navigated for centuries. No compass needed. Just the stars and your five fingers.
I'll tell you about the Three Sisters carrying their father's coffin, the archer aiming at the scorpion's heart, and the love story of Aldebaran chasing the Seven Sisters every night.
I'll show you the incredible connection between Orion's Belt and the Great Pyramids of Giza — built to mirror the sky. Egypt is the mirror of heaven.
I'll teach you to read the ground like a Bedouin: wolf, fox, snake, scorpion, and camel tracks in the sand. The sky is half the book — the ground is the other half.
I'll share real stories of wolf encounters, snake survival, and how my grandfathers lived in harmony with the desert — using nature's own tools to stay alive.
Sit with me under the stars with traditional Bedouin tea, surrounded by the silence of Wadi Rum. The same hospitality my people have offered for a thousand years.
"What you're seeing right now — it's not real. Sirius is 8.6 light-years away. You're looking at the past. Every star is a time machine."
Your hand has five fingers. That's all you need to navigate the entire night sky. I'll teach you this ancient Bedouin mnemonic that has guided desert travelers for generations.
Every dot in the sky has a name, a story, and a purpose. Here are some of the stars and constellations I'll show you.
Three belt stars that mirror the Pyramids of Giza. His dog Canis Major carries Sirius — the brightest star in the night sky. Below him, a rabbit waits to be caught.
A tight cluster followed forever by Aldebaran, "the follower," who brings his sheep as dowry, hoping to marry one of them. They run. He follows. Every single night.
Its bright red heart, Antares, glows in the southern sky. Next to it stands Sagittarius — the half-man, half-horse archer — aiming his bow at the scorpion's heart.
Deneb ("tail" in Arabic), Altair ("the bird"), and Vega form a massive triangle. When it appears before sunrise, summer is on its way.
A flying horse made of stars — head, neck, body, and legs spread across the autumn sky. One of the largest constellations visible from Wadi Rum.
Fourth brightest star, appearing in late August. When Canopus rises, birds migrate through Jordan — and the Bedouin falcon hunting season begins.
"Winter = W shape, use Cassiopeia.
Summer = Seven stars, use the Big Dipper.
That's how you remember."
"Orion's three belt stars are not perfectly in a line. One is slightly offset. The three Great Pyramids of Giza? Same layout. The Egyptians built the pyramids to mirror the sky."
The ancient Egyptians aligned the Great Pyramids with Orion's Belt, built the Red Pyramid to match the red star Betelgeuse, and saw the Milky Way as the Nile River. They wrote: "Egypt is the mirror of the sky." — 41% of all star names in modern astronomy are Arabic in origin.

"I've traveled to 40 countries and this was the single most magical night of my life. Yousef doesn't just show you stars — he makes you feel connected to something ancient."
"The way he tells the story of the Three Sisters... I got goosebumps. My kids still talk about the Key of the Sky. We left with tears in our eyes."
"I'm an astronomer and even I learned things I never knew. The Bedouin knowledge of the sky is profound. Yousef is the real deal — a living library."
